The steps you need to take to get closer to your goals

Getting closer to your goals can sometimes be a delicate process. We do not know how to proceed or where to begin. It can quickly become something frustrating, and sometimes even scary. Unfortunately, not being able to cope with this situation, many decide to give up even before they achieve their goals. But, sometimes you only need to just sit down, take the time to listen to yourself, ask the right questions to find your way to achieve your goals and the steps you need to take to get closer to achieving them. Today, I propose in this article the magic formula that I use before achieving any goal. I assure you, this method, which consists of four key steps, is simple and easy. You can follow it to move closer to your objectives.

So let’s start with the first step!

# 1: Determine what you really want

If you have decided to achieve your goal, whether it’s traveling, writing a book, starting a business, or starting a new career, etc. There is a good reason why you decided to do so. Nothing happens by chance. So think about what you really want and think it through. Why did you decide to embark on this adventure? What are you really looking for?

Answering these questions is crucial for the future. Once your goal is determined, you must try to turn it into something concrete, something you can measure. Taking the example of a person who wants to write a book. Before starting to write, it is necessary to determine the theme of the latter. What is the message you want to convey? Is it a unique book or is it part of a series? The idea is to make your project or goal as clear as possible. Clarity will greatly simplify your life. I gave you the example of writing, but it’s valid for everything. Your goal must always be something that you can measure and that you can break down into several parts afterward.

This brings us to the second step.

# 2: Establish an action plan

Once you have determined exactly where you want to go and what is your goal, you will now need to determine how to get there. It will be necessary to establish the first plan of action.

For that, the first thing to do is to start by breaking down your goal into a multitude of small goals that you are sure to achieve. The idea is to go slowly, put one step in front of the other until you get there. Having accurately determined your goal will make it much easier. Do not feel obliged to determine your way down to the smallest detail. It will not help, because no matter how good your plan is, be sure it will change along the way.

“When a man walks toward his destiny, he is often forced to change direction.”

-Paulo Coelho

The most important thing is to determine the first action to put in place. One is enough and will bring you closer to your goal.

Once determined you will IMMEDIATELY proceed to the next step…

# 3: Act, Act, and Act

There are two kinds of people. Those who spend their time planning, and those who act even if their plans are far from perfect. I’ll let you guess who are the ones that are going to achieve the best results. Once your plan is in place, start following it right away. Do not wait for the perfect moment, it will never happen anyway. I know that the first step is the hardest; I know it can be scary, especially if you are faced with the judgment of others. Yet you will have to do it if you want to succeed. Do not be afraid to fail, it happens to everyone, even the best of us The reality is that the mistakes you will make will instead serve you for the rest of your journey in achieving your goals, which brings us to the fourth and final step…

# 4: Review your plan and improve it until perfect

With each step you take forward, you will learn new things, you will progress and gain experience and get closer to your goal. Along the way, you will learn things you did not even know existed. These same things that will allow you to review your plan with greater clarity, perspective to improve, move forward and succeed.  Every mistake you make will transform you, make you progress and bring you closer to your goal.

#5 – Build your motivation generator

This aspect is not essential to start moving towards your goals. On the other hand, in the long run, it is essential. I want to talk about your environment here. It can boost you or slow you down with a snap of your fingers. But, few people are aware that you are master of your environment, it is you who decide!

#6 – Make your goal ridiculously easy to achieve

“Eating an elephant is easy. Take one spoon at a time”.

-African proverb

This proverb describes exactly what needs to be done to achieve one’s goals. Motivate yourself: Whatever the trust we have in ourselves, if we take the too much big step we will certainly fail. We don’t have to think long before acting and waste a lot of time. If you are told “tomorrow you will climb to the top of the Alps Mountain” you will think twice. On the other hand, if you find yourself at the bottom of the mountain and you say “I will take a step in this direction, and then another and then another …” you will arrive at the top!

Whatever your goal might be it is always possible to achieve. The method that works best is to divide your goal into actions that can be done in one day. If you set a daily action and stick to it, you will reach your goals much faster than you think because in the whole process, what is most important is doing something. This is the keyword! You may feel like you’re moving forward when you spend time on something. But if we have nothing concrete, in the end, we lose our time. So the more you act, the more you will progress. The more you think, the more your brain will find ways to achieve your goals.

Conclusion

These are the 6 steps that allowed me to reach my goals. Do not be afraid to ask for more. By being methodical, you will certainly get there. If you think about it a little, your dreams just need a deadline to become goals
